CAMPO Comments Submitted

Safer 71 has filed its official documents for Phase 2 Public Comment for the Regional Arterial Plan and CAMPO 2045 Plan.

This is a critical step to having SH71 recognized as  a regionally significant road in need of future federal funding.

SH71 Collision Map Released

In prepearation for upcoming meetings with TxDOT officials and related agencies, Safer71 released a new collision map highlighting the 20 deaths, and 128 injuries that have occurred since 2014.

Monthly TxDOT Meetings

Safer71 is now holding monthly meetings with Travis County and TxDOT to ensure ongoing safety issues and programs for SH71 West are communicated effectively.

Austin Statesman Talks to Safer71

The Austin Statesman Newspaper ran a story about Safer71 and our efforts to save lives on the highway.  

The story highlighted the dangers on this stretch of road, the number of fatalities that have occurred, and the need for changes via improved engineering, increased enforcement, and ongoing driver education.

Safer71 Attends Commissioners Court

Greg Short, Safer 71 President, attended the Commissioners Court on November 13 to challenge traffic study findings associated with the proposed Bee Creek Sports Complex.

The project is set to open in 2020 and add thousands of cars to SH71 each week.

CAMPO Open House Nov. 28


CAMPO, the body who sets long term transportation infrastructure plans for our region, are having an Open House at the Lakeway Library on Nov. 28, 2018 from 4pm - 7pm.

This Open House is a chance for any concerned residents to talk with planners for our region and leave comment cards on their desires to improve SH71 and other roads in our area.

We encourage all residents who are able to attend to do so.  Full details are available at the CAMPO website.
